Staying Comfortable

Here are some tips to keep yourself comfy and healthy while at the Sunflower Music Festival:

Plan rest breaks during the day, stay hydrated and well fed, and be honest with yourself if/when you're not feeling well. We all hate to admit it, but sometimes you gotta miss one set to make it to a bunch more. Listen to your body!
Refill your water often, and keep stocked on ice
There are water stations throughout the festival for a reason. Keep those water bottles filled, and keep yourself hydrated. Also be sure to pick up some extra ice from the vendors in the campgrounds each morning to keep your food and drinks cold at the campsite.
Make sure you bring some healthy snacks to keep you energized throughout the day, and visit our food vendors for some hearty meals too. Dancing and partying take a lot of energy - make sure you have what you need!
Ask for help if you need it! Not feeling well? Don't be afraid to ask our staff for directions to the nearest medical tent. Our team is always happy to help, but we aren't mind readers so don't be afraid to ask for support if you need it.
Nobody wants to run the car engine just to charge their phone - plus the exhaust from the car can be a serious carbon monoxide hazard (be careful!). If you have one, bringing a battery to charge your phone every once and a while will help keep you comfortable. There is a charging station within the Farm Experience but it will be a busy area.
When planning your campsite, keep in mind that you will be in an open grassy field in Kentucky. It's gonna get hot, and you won't want to be in direct sunlight when chilling at your campsite. Bring a shade canopy to cover your area, and even consider another to add more shade on top of your tent.

What Should I Pack?

Don't leave home without it!

Camping gear (Tents & Shelters, Sleeping Bags & Beds, Tarp)
A shade structure is a big help in the campsite!
Cooler and/or water jugs to refill (ice available for purchase at the market)
Lantern / flashlight / headlamp (AND extra batteries!)
Water bottle (or two!)
Camping chairs, tables, and anything else that might help create a comfy home-away- from home
Rain gear (failure to bring it increases the chance of rain)
Your favorite hoodie (yes, it CAN get cold when the sun sets in KY)
Extra shoes/sneakers
Mud boots (in case it rains)
Bug spray
Sunscreen (lots of it)
A hat for shade
A bandana (in Kentucky, in September, you’re going to sweat)
Sunglasses
Biodegradable plastic bags for trash (we do provide some bags for trash but extras are nice)
Toilet paper (backup is always a good idea)
Flag or balloon to identify your campsite
Extra set of keys to keep with you at all times (avoid keeping keys in your car!)

YOU DON’T NEED IT TO SURVIVE, BUT HAPPY YOU HAVE IT!

Small stove or grill if you would like to cook some of your own food
Small luggage lock for your tent (please don’t bring any valuables – if you must, keep them locked out of view in your vehicle)
Vehicle key code (this makes it easy for the locksmith to duplicate your car key if you lose it)
Soap, Deodorant, Shampoo
Smokers – bring an ashtray! Every butt you throw on the ground, someone has to pick up!
Blanket (for sitting)
Earplugs (for sleeping)
Portable speakers or radio
Chair
